College Football Best Bets For Wisconsin vs. Purdue, LSU vs. Ole Miss, and More Week 8 Action
Jake’s Season Record: 13-13
I went 3-1 last week, and surprisingly it was a Big 12 over that didn’t hit and kept me from a perfect weekend. Now that I’m back to .500 though, let’s make some money. This week I have three picks for Saturday’s college football games.

Purdue’s big win over Iowa brought the Boilermakers into the Top 25, and it will be a fight to earn a win and stay ranked this week. Wisconsin comes to town in a matchup that the Badgers have historically dominated. Wisconsin has won the last 15 matchups, leaving Purdue winless since 2003. The Boilermakers also haven’t won on their home field against Wisconsin since 1997.
With that being said, I think this is going to be a very competitive game that comes down to the end.
Right now, the over/under is sitting at 40.5 points and I am taking the over. This line was at 39.5 on Wednesday, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this continue to rise closer to 42 by Saturday. Six touchdowns is not an unreasonable expectation for this game.
Both sides have impeccable defenses, but Wisconsin will have its hands full with Purdue’s aerial assault, and the Boilermaker defense will be chasing down the Badgers rushers all day.
Take the Over 40.5 (-104) in this game before it gets any higher.

I will be fading the Tigers for most of the year after the latest news coming out of Baton Rouge last week. Ed Orgeron is out as head coach of the Tigers but will finish out the season… WHAT ARE WE DOING, LSU?! I thought this was a program that wants to win, but instead, the head coach gets to have one foot out the door for the remainder of the season?
I’m selling LSU for the rest of the year. In my opinion, this creates a scenario where the head coach is just there and there isn’t really any motivation to win on Saturdays.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss has plenty to play for. Currently ranked #12, the Rebels are playing for Top 10 recognition and a potential conference championship game. Ole Miss needs to play perfectly down the stretch to have a chance at representing the SEC West instead of Alabama – and the Crimson Tide would need another loss this year.
This game is in Oxford, MS, and the weather looks good. The spread may seem large at -9.5, but Ole Miss is averaging over 40 points per game this season, so I wouldn’t be too scared of the line being larger than one touchdown.
Take Ole Miss -9.5 (-106).

Chip Kelly and the Bruins host the coach’s old team on Saturday down in Pasadena, CA, and this one has a big impact on Pac-12 standings.
Oregon currently leads the North Division, and UCLA is a half-game back in the South Division. A UCLA win in this game would open the Pac-12 up for a few teams.
I’m not buying into what the book is setting this game at right now though. Oregon may have some recent struggles, but it should not be the underdog in this matchup.
Oregon at even money on the Moneyline is good value for a game that I think should be high-scoring and entertaining. Both of these teams average around the same amount of points per game. In that scenario, I’ll take the team that has one overtime loss compared to UCLA who has an in-conference and out-of-conference loss this year.
I will note that I am playing contrarian against some of the data I am seeing. For example, Oregon is 1-5 against the spread while UCLA is 5-1. That would indicate that the UCLA Bruins at -2 should cover, but I think the Oregon Ducks win straight up, and that line basically has this as a pick’em since it is a home game for the Bruins.
Take Oregon ML (+100).
Jake's Stay Away Games
Some games that I am staying away from are in the Big Ten. I don’t like the spread in the Northwestern vs. Michigan or Illinois vs. Penn State games. Also, something about USC visiting Notre Dame says upset to me, but I am not confident enough to play that, so I am staying away as of now.
I’ll have more picks posted on my Twitter page, so make sure to follow me @SnakeJiggs and let me know what games you like this weekend.
