After a 4-0 night with my picks Wednesday, my record for the MLB season stands at 20-10-1. I’ll try to keep things going in the right direction Thursday during baseball’s limited six-game schedule. All odds were obtained from the BetMGM Sportsbook.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Boston Red Sox: Rays ML (-162)

The Red Sox are off to a rough start at 6-12. Their starting rotation is a mess, and losing Mookie Betts certainly hasn’t done any favors for their lineup. They’ve lost each of the first three games of this series against the Rays. And the Rays have won five straight, overall, as they sit in second place in the AL East.

This game has the potential to be an impact mismatch in the starting pitching department. Set to take the mound for the Rays is Tyler Glasnow, who had a sparkling 1.78 ERA last year that was supported by a 2.26 FIP. He was hit hard in his last outing against the Yankees, but he’s once again racking up strikeouts with 19 of them through 11 1/3 innings. Taking the mound for the Red Sox will be Kyle Hart, who is a former 19th-round pick who will be making his big-league debut at the age of 27. Prior to last season, he had never even pitched above Double-A. I like the Rays’ chances of pulling off the sweep with another win Thursday.

Tampa Bay Rays @ Boston Red Sox: Rays Over 5.5 Runs (+107)

Hart’s numbers at Triple-A last season weren’t terrible, considering his 3.86 ERA and 4.32 FIP. He did a good job of limiting home runs, although his 1.27 WHIP and 19.4 percent strikeout rate aren’t exactly encouraging. Behind him is a Red Sox bullpen that doesn’t have much depth behind closer Brandon Workman. With the Rays having scored at least eight runs in each of the first three games of this series, taking a chance on them hitting the over here with plus odds could be well worth the risk.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Baltimore Orioles: Bryce Harper Over 0.5 Hits (-205)

Harper enters this contest scorching hot with three straight multi-hit games. He has at least one hit in 10 of his 13 games this season, which has helped propel him to a .341 batting average. The first advantage he has in this game is playing at home, where he had a 137 wRC+ last season. He only had a 112 wRC+ on the road. The second advantage is that he’ll get to take his hacks against Tom Eshelman, who registered a 1.61 WHIP during his first taste of the MLB last season. Look for Harper to keep rolling in this matchup.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Pittsburgh Pirates: Jesse Winker Over 0.5 Hits (-220)

While making his way up through the minor leagues, Winker made himself known more for his ability to hit for average than power. However, he batted only .269 last year while hitting 16 home runs. He has carried that power over into 2020 with three home runs and a .244 ISO out of the gate. However, he’s back to hitting for average at .333. In fact, he has posted at least two hits in five of the last six games. And he has at least one hit in seven of his last eight contests, overall. The Pirates will start Trevor Williams in this MLB contest, who was crushed by left-handed hitters last season to the tune of a .335 batting average. Considering the excellent start that Winker is off to, he has the potential to take advantage of this favorable matchup.
