Deaf Pick of the Day: NBA Finals Rematch – Curry Returns

The Toronto Raptors ended a 3-game losing streak beating the Phoenix Suns by 9 points, led by the return of a healthy Pascal Siakam dropping 33 points. The #2 seed of the East allowed the Celtics (1 game back) and the Heat (3.5 games back) to gain ground to create some unwarranted tension for the home-court advantage in the second round. Tonight will be a rematch of the NBA Finals last year. And the Warriors will have Steph Curry return back on the court! Great for the league. Exciting to have the baby-faced assassin return and add a little flavor to the late game on TNT tonight.

With that said, Pascal Siakam, Kyle Lowry, and the length of Anunoby and Boucher (coming off a career 19-point, 15-rebounds night) will be superior tonight in the Chase Center (RIP Oracle Arena). The Warriors will look to get some revenge on the Raptors when Curry returns. But with minute restrictions on Curry (25 min), I don’t see Draymond Green (questionable, but I see him playing), and the soft Andrew Wiggins carrying the rest of the workload to keep it close. The Warriors have lost 9 in a row at home. And I think the Raptors continue that trend and look to extend their one-game lead at the #2 seed.

Curry Returns NBA Finals Rematch Warriors vs Raptors

The Raptors are 5-0 ATS on the road in Golden State and have won 16 of their last 20 games against the Pacific Division Opponents, must be the weather! And to add more salt on the wound, the Raptors have won 11 of the last 13 road games. They’re not pleased they let up their lead for the #2 seed and will come with a sense of urgency. Anunoby, the 6’ 7” wing, will look to utilize his length to slow down Wiggins. And I see Curry and Lowry canceling each other out, giving the nod to the better bench of the Toronto Raptors. The Warriors have been swapping people out left and right with some G League signings and 10-day contracts.

Surprisingly though, the Warriors are coming off their 16-point win against the Western Conference #2 Seed Denver Nuggets, and had an impressive showing from Villanova big man Eric Paschall (22 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists) and outscored the Nuggets by 15 points in the 4th quarter alone. Definitely interesting because Golden State is 21st in the league in 4th quarter margins. Whereas the Raptors are 5th in the league at closing games. I don’t see the non-playoff Warriors hanging in and beating back-to-back #2 seeds. Give the Raptors the nod to cover the -8.5. Keep an eye out for the Raptor bench to take advantage at the end of the first quarter. And they should separate when Curry is on the bench during minute restrictions.
