Beware the Ides of March, my friends… Unless you drink malt liquor, then beware of St. Ides. You might also want to beware of trusting my picks after yesterday’s picks debacle. What can you do when Anthony Edwards plays about as FILTHY as that Cardi B performance at the Grammys last night? 34 points? Six threes? Ayyy – Play on playa. But I will say – I swear I texted The Odds Factory editor right when I heard that it was Steph Curry’s birthday. I wanted to change my Warriors pick, but I was too late.

Whatever. I felt robbed, kind of like when Beyoncé didn’t win an Album of the Year Grammy in 2017 for that “Becky with the good hair” song. Instead, I went 1-3 on Sunday… I hate going 1-3. Makes me PISSED OFF. Maybe I should just focus on messing up my March Madness pool like I have done every year in the past 20 years… Instead, I’ll make some NBA picks for Monday and hope to get myself back on track… Pass the St. Ides.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Los Angeles Clippers: Dallas +1.5 (-110)

Point Total: Over 227.5 (+100)

I dunno about these Los Angeles Clippers. The fire that was burning so brightly last year is slowly flickering out, as evidenced by the curb-stomping that Zion Williamson and the Pelicans put on them Sunday night. They are 4-7 in their last 11 games. Now, on the second night of a back-to-back, they face the Mavericks, who seem to be everybody’s favorite team this week. Luka Dončić is attacking opposing players like that mask-less woman who coughed on her Uber driver a few days ago. (I’m so glad she was arrested.)

As a Kawhi Leonard fan, I’d love to see them bounce back here, but I’m suddenly seeing Kristaps is hitting logo three-pointers, and I just don’t think the Clips have the confidence they need to win this game. Dallas won their first meeting too. Risky? YES. But with a 1.5-point spread, you gotta think this game will be close and, at the very least, fun to watch.

Take the over here. Luka, PG13, The Claw, etc. Even Josh Richardson is becoming a scoring threat for Dallas recently. I definitely see the Mavs establishing themselves as a competitor in the East – even though when push comes to shove, the Clippers have the better team on paper. I see 227.5 being an easy over.

Memphis Grizzlies @ Phoenix Suns: Memphis +7 (-110)

Point Total: Over 228 (-103)

Phoenix lost to the Pacers, who lost to the Lakers the night before, and I am having a hard time understanding the NBA inconsistencies right now – so I’m thinking Phoenix wants to beat the Grizzlies, who ALMOST beat the Nuggets on Friday – and probably would have won if the refs would have called Jokić for fouling Morant. Which means… that’s one hell of a run-on sentence.

Look, as betting experts, sometimes we know that past performances mean absolutely nothing. Sort of like the Grammys! Hey, if The Weeknd says the Grammys are “rigged” then lord KNOWS what he thinks about the NBA – and even though the Phoenix Suns have title-level talent right now, they might find a tougher game than they expect against Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies (who put up crazy numbers versus the Thunder in a loss Sunday). I think seven points is a BIG cover for the Suns here. I like Memphis’s confidence and I think the Grizzlies cover the spread.

228? Hmm. Denver and Phoenix put up only 205. That’s considerably lower than 228 – but then again, Devin Booker went 1-6 from the three-point line. That ain’t happening today. Plus, the Grizzlies and Thunder hit 250 (!) on Sunday! Look for a Phoenix flurry of scoring here. Take the OVER baby – I can’t wait for this game.

Again, risky picks, but you don’t get anywhere without throwing your winning ways on the line once in a while – right? Ask Beyoncé, who – after last night – is now the top female Grammy Award winner of all time. Hmm, maybe SHE knows the secret to winning?

I guess I could just ask Becky with the good hair...
