Zach to the Rack NBA Picks For Thursday 3/4/2021

Zach’s Season Record: 44-33

Since Monday was a nice 3-1 day for me and these NBA point totals recently have been higher than Jason Sudeikis at the Golden Globes… today I am going to keep betting overs, picking winners, and analyzing why the 2021 Clippers suddenly look like the 1991 Clippers and why the Wizards are suddenly beating everybody in their path like that guy who knocked Rick Moranis down a few months back in Manhattan.
I’ll admit, I had the Pacers in the semi-finals of the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs this year, but recently, I dunno what’s been happening. T.J. Warren’s dominant Bubble season should have helped, but injury took him out for most of the year, and as good as Sabonis is, they just couldn’t handle the Sixers on Tuesday – and got curb-stomped by guys like Shake Milton. So, with that knowledge, I bring you some surefire money winners for this afternoon.
Denver Nuggets @ Indiana Pacers: Denver -4.5 (-105)
Point Total: Over 225.5 (-120)
Indiana had just lost four straight before squeaking by Cleveland last night. Denver has won three straight. I like the country singer George Strait. None of this makes sense. But my guess is that Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets keep their run going today against the reeling Indiana Pacers. Joel Embiid had a bad left ankle and still put up 24 and 8 against them on Tuesday. Plus, Thursday is night two of a back-to-back. Meanwhile, Jamal Murray is looking more like Bubble Jamal and the Nuggets are gaining steam in the mile high. I think they win this game easily, coasting to a 7-point victory over a team whose assist leader is the backup point guard T.J. McConnell. (Respect, T.J., you should be starting).
Points-wise, I’ve been lucky on the overs lately, so I’m gonna stick with them for now. The Sixers-Pacers game saw 244 points total, including 37 and 39 point quarters for both teams. I am starting to believe that betting overs is the “Volvo Station Wagon” in today’s NBA – a safe bet. (Thanks Sklar Brothers for that one). Take the OVER.
Golden State Warriors @ Phoenix Suns: Phoenix -6.5 (-105)
Point Total: Over 224 (+130)
“We have to remember, even when we're playing well, teams still want to beat us and beat us bad.”
- Steph Curry, saying the NBA is getting revenge on the past 5-year dominance of the Warriors.
I like that quote, but it seems like a cop-out. Golden State is a good team to bet on against mid-level teams. But against the Phoenix Suns, who are currently on a 3 game winning streak (after getting blasted by LaMelo and the Hornets), I think you stay away from Steph Curry and crew in this game. (Back-to-back game, too.) The Lakers stomped GSW and then the Suns stomped the Lakers – so if A=B and B=C... then this is an easy bet to make! Then again, I once dated a girl who had once dated Ashton Kutcher. So technically, I should be worth 50 million dollars and married to Mila Kunis. Instead, I’m wagering on NBA games and making you fools cash money. And I think Phoenix, with the current player of the month Devin Booker, take out the Dubs with ease and win by 8-10.
Points-wise, take the over! It’s the NBA! What can go wrong! Uhm – what goes wrong is when your team pushes or comes one point shy of covering. But I think with the scoring talent on both these teams, we won’t see that problem this evening. Let the sun shine in, Phoenix… Spring training is down the street and J.J. Watt is valley-bound. The time for Phoenix to rise is upon us. OVER.
