Wait, the NBA is still happening? Yeah, sorry – March Madness got yer boy so busy with NCAA games that I was truly heartbroken when Arizona’s women’s team missed their first National Championship by one unlucky bounce… But now it’s back to where I butter my bread. And today’s NBA games have more holes in them than Jill Biden’s fishnet stockings… But hopefully, I can make some sense of this wacky season.
The Warriors have lost 7 of 8, Rajon Rondo may have turned the Clippers into real contenders, and right now there are more teams who have a chance to win the NBA Finals than there are COVID-19 variants popping up across the world. My money is on the Clippers or the red hot Miami Heat – but the Nuggets are a good bet to win right now too at +1600.
Detroit Pistons @ Oklahoma City Thunder: Oklahoma +3 (-110)
Point Total: Under 212.5 (+105)
Yawn, right? We’re at that part of the season where teams are losing games by BIG numbers and the separation has begun between the elite and the not-so-elite. This is a battle of the not-so-elite. But I do think that the Oklahoma City Thunder is a better team right now than the Detroit Pistons. Look for the Thunder – who only scored 85 against the Trail Blazers Sunday – to barely win this game. 85 points. Detroit scored 81 Sunday. Take the UNDER. Unless these teams just go HAM and don’t play any defense whatsoever. Nobody knows what teams like this will do when the leading scorer for both squads is Jerami Grant.
Sacramento Kings @ Minnesota Timberwolves: Sacramento -4.5 (+105)
Point Total: Over 235 (-129)
The Sacramento Kings have this guy named Terence Davis. And another guy named Tyrese Haliburton. And my guess is you should invest in an NBA Top Shot video of both of these dudes because they’re bringing the Kings more attention than TikTok star Addison Rae calling the paparazzi on herself. Look for them to roll over the Timberwolves today – as I think this team could shock a lot of people and slip into the Western Conference Playoffs now that the Lakers’ numerous injury woes have opened up the playing field.
The Kings are favored by 4.5. They will win by more than that. The over/under is set at 235, which I’ll take the OVER on based on the De'Aaron Fox and Anthony Edwards battle we could see tonight. But it's a weird NBA day – a lot of close matchups and odds that are about as confusing as the latest Madonna photoshopped Instagram post.
Have fun folks… And enjoy that Gonzaga versus Baylor game tonight. I’m not sure if there are any future NBA players in that matchup. But I do know that Matthew Mayer has a sick mullet. Do me a favor – Take my picks and use the money to fill up your Trans-Am with gas…
