Zach to the Rack NBA Playoff Picks For Thursday 7/8/2021
Zach’s Season Record: 120-111
My picks on Monday almost made me a lot of money! Yet, my atrocious NBA Playoff picking continued but I have some excuses.
One: I dropped Zach to the Rack before the Bucks announced Giannis was playing, which took points away from Khris Middleton, who finished with 29. One point away from my 30-point prop bet. Booker was a missed three away from hitting my other 30-point prop. But admittedly, I was way off in thinking that this game was going to be a wire-to-wire battle like the two games the Phoenix Suns and Milwaukee Bucks played in the regular season.
By the way, Giannis didn’t look 100% – in fact, he looked about as uncomfortable as Rachel Nichols leaving Jimmy Butler’s $20 coffee shop in the Bubble every morning…
Am I allowed to write that? Sorry… it was all over NBA Twitter.
With Dario Šarić now out with an ACL tear, Frank Kaminsky suddenly found himself back on the court, which was a HUGE cause for concern for Suns fans… not really. Did it matter? Not in the slightest. Chris Paul, D-Book, and Deandre Ayton are a legitimate Big Three and that arena was going NUTS yesterday. The question is, can they keep it going in Game 2?
I don’t see the Suns slowing down tonight. It may not be as much of a blowout as Game 1, but I’m taking the Suns to win and cover the spread. With Giannis still playing on a tender knee, the Bucks seemed like they were less confident than they seemed in Games 6 and 7 against Atlanta. In fact, I almost feel like bringing Giannis back may have messed with their momentum and faster-paced offense.
Am I saying you don’t want one of the best players in the world out there even if he is only at 75%? No. They were right to bring him back. He just didn’t have the lateral movement even though he still had 20 points and 17 rebounds. The biggest question was where was Jrue Holiday Tuesday? On an actual holiday? You need him to get more involved in this game for it to be closer than Game 1.
Points-wise tonight, I’m taking the over again, assuming that Giannis has shaken the dust off a little and will be back in attack mode. The Suns’ offense is just too efficient and that crowd seems to have them believing that every single shot will go in. Take the OVER and expect Holiday to come back with a 20 piece to compliment Middleton's 25.
I’ll throw a prop bet or two in here as well…
I’ll take a 15-point, 15-rebound game from Deandre Ayton (+386).
And just because I missed it by one point on Tuesday, I’m taking Khris Middleton to score 30+ points (+215).
If I go 0-4 tonight, then I’ll buy you all some of Jimmy Butler’s $20 coffee.
