Anthony’s Season Record 8-4
I know I said this was the week I was going to get that perfect 3-0, but once again I finished 2-1. Whatever, I’ll take it. Any week you’re profitable against these damn bookies is a good week. So let’s keep this luck going and continue being profitable. Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears: I took this line not knowing Fields was going to start, and the gamble paid off. If you’ve read my work past articles, then you know that I love fading Jared Goff. It’s been a profitable strategy for me thus far, and I’m not stopping anytime soon. This game played out basically the way I figured it would. Feed the ball to Montgomery and put the rookie in a good position. Boom. Pay me. Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers: Well…we got the win but it wasn’t because of Chef Russ. The overall game was just okay. There were some big catches here and there but nothing too crazy. After Trey Lance replaced Garoppolo, I was already counting my money. Las Vegas Raiders @ Los Angeles Chargers: I think I drank too much of that Vegas Kool-Aid. Now that I look back, maybe I shouldn’t have put that much faith in Derek Carr. The Chargers look really good. Herbert continues to play lights out every week, and that team doesn’t look like they’re slowing down anytime soon.Smart Money NFL Week 5 Picks For 10/10/2021
It’s only Week 5 and injuries have changed the betting landscape tremendously. A lot of teams look different than they did in the pre-season, and that’s not totally a bad thing. We’re finally seeing the rookie quarterbacks get playing time. With that being said, there aren’t too many games that jumped out to me this week. However, I still managed to find some matchups I’m definitely putting money on. So let’s get into it.New York Jets @ Atlanta Falcons: Atlanta -2.5 (-115)
The first London game of the year – I love it. Nothing beats waking up to the sounds of NFL football before you’ve even had a chance to enjoy your first round of tea and crumpets. These international games are always a little tough to predict, but they’re fun to bet. The Jets are coming off a huge game where they upset Derrick Henry and the Titans. Now they have to play overseas against Matt Ryan and a dwindling receiving corps. I love a Falcons bounce-back game here. They just lost a hard-fought battle with the Washington Football Team, and now they get the soft Jets defense. Even though they are hurting at wide receiver, the Atlanta Falcons are still better than the New York Jets. I can see them focusing on pushing the ball to Pitts and Patterson and getting Mike Davis involved more in the run game. Final Score: 24-14, Falcons.
Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs: Buffalo +3 (-120)
This is the game I’ll be looking forward to all day. This should be a high-scoring shootout between two of the best young quarterbacks in the league right now. Instead of taking the over, I’m taking the Bills and the points. This Kansas City defense is atrocious. Josh Allen is going to throw all over this secondary on Sunday. The Chiefs win games by outscoring their opponent, not stopping them. Not only do the Bills have just as good an offense, their defense is no joke either. It’s always a little iffy betting against Mahomes at home, but I love the Bills team this year. Let’s just hope Josh Allen doesn’t have one of those games where he fumbles three times and attempts a backward lateral for no reason. Final Score: 31-28, Bills.Cleveland Browns @ Los Angeles Chargers: Chargers ML (+125)
It only took one week of betting against this team to put that to bed. I’m all in on this Chargers team. They’re at home again and should continue to roll here. The Browns do have a good defense, but I don’t see that slowing down Herbert and his plethora of weapons. I also think that this Browns team is very one-dimensional. It seems like they live and die by the running game. If the Chargers jump out to a quick lead, the Browns won’t be able to rely on the one-two punch that is Chubb and Hunt. The Chargers should win handily here. Final Score: 30-21, Boltz. It’s been smooth sailing the first five weeks of the NFL season and I have no plan to stop now.
