970x90 BetMGM Sportsbook - Article - Risk-Free Bet $600 Now, you might be reading this NHL picks article for a couple of different reasons. It might be that the NFL season wrapped up last Sunday and you're looking for a new, uncharted sport to bet on. No? Okay, perhaps you’re a diehard fan who's ready to start winning money while you watch toothless grown men slap a puck around an ice rink. Wait, that’s still not it? Okay, I got it. You actually despise the NHL, but you're a degenerate gambler who just can’t help himself – like my colleague, Action Jackson. Don’t worry about those weak ankles, Jack. These NHL picks will carry both of us past the finish line. If you followed my NFL picks this season, you probably noticed a few things. I try to stay away from lines that don't offer great odds. This basically includes anything -150 and over. Any square can give you a -250 moneyline, but that’s not exciting. That’s not why I’m here. You might also notice that most of my picks are based on data and trends. Depending on how much rum I consume while writing these articles, I might throw in a couple of degenerate plays. Without further ado, let's take a look at the jam-packed slate for Thursday.

Carolina Hurricanes @ Dallas Stars: Over 5.5 Total Goals (+114)

First, we have a matchup between two teams slowly being pushed down the rankings in the central division. The 7-3 Carolina Hurricanes face off against the 5-2 Dallas Stars. Looking at the recent games for these teams, they are both hitting the over pretty damn consistently. The Hurricanes have hit the over four out of the last five games. As for the Stars, they are not as efficient but still have delivered on the over more times than not – three of five games. So far this season, both of these teams have been aggressive with their shots. The Hurricanes are in the top five in most shots on goal. They look to fire shots early and often. Looking at overall goals for the year, Dallas is perched in third with a nice average of 3.5 goals per game. This game is set up to be a back-and-forth shootout. I would be surprised if this game didn't end with at least six goals. William Hill RF500 - 728x90

Anaheim Ducks @ Vegas Golden Knights: Anaheim Total Under 2 Goals (+110)

This is a bully play, but what can I say – the Ducks are the Ducks. Easily the worst team in the league, they rank dead last in goals scored per game at 1.8. They haven’t been great this year, to say the least. Let's fade them this Thursday. If having the worst offense in the league wasn't bad enough, they are going up against the Vegas Golden Knights - who are bottom five in conceding goals. So far this season they have only given up a stingy 2.3 goals per game. This is going to be an ugly game for the Ducks. It could easily be a shut out. I wouldn't be surprised if the game ended 5-0. With that being said, I can't help but notice that BetMGM has the Knights to win without conceding a goal in regular time, set at a juicy (+700). This might be the fourth rum and coke speaking, but why not throw a unit on it? I have high hopes for this inaugural NHL picks article. Hopefully, it ages like fine wine and not like that open can of Pabst Blue Ribbon that’s been sitting in my shower for three months now. Don’t judge me. There’s nothing like a shower beer to rid you of your gambling losses at the end of the day.
