You won’t be able to tell because I know how to use private mode on Instagram Live but I am celebrating like Paul Pierce right now. Another perfect 3-0 week. Let’s. F*cking. Go. What a hell of a run I’m on. I haven’t had one losing week since I started these picks – you’re welcome. The best thing about last week was there wasn’t one game I was sweating. I just sat back, turned on the tube, and watched my betting account grow. If you haven’t hopped on this winning streak, it’s about time you start. I’ve got a full head of steam going into this Thursday, and nothing’s going to stop me. Well, maybe the Islanders – I still haven’t won when I’ve bet on them. That’s okay though, the picks I have lined up tonight are going to pad your bank account even more. Let’s get another perfect week with these Thursday night NHL picks.

Smart Money NHL Picks For Thursday 4/8/21

Edmonton Oilers @ Ottawa Senators: Under 6.5 Total Goals (-115)

I bet all unders last week, and they treated me well. So, for my first pick, I’m sticking with them. Let’s take the under on this game. Both teams have been struggling with their shots lately, and I don’t see this one finishing with seven goals. Of the last 10 games combined, 7 of them have finished under. For all you non-mathematicians out there, that’s 70%. I’ll take that bet. Looking at the year so far, the Oilers are actually scoring at a decent rate. They’re ranked top 10 in average goals per game and 6th in total goals overall. The Senators, on the other hand, are not doing as well. They currently rank 24th in average goals per game, and they shouldn’t light the world on fire tonight. The amount of goals the Senators are giving up each game is a little concerning for my under. They are allowing the league-high 3.8 goals per game and almost 150 on the season. If there’s one thing I’m worried about, it would be that the Ottawa Senators get blown out and the Edmonton Oilers crack this over by themselves. But my picks have been money, and that won’t happen. I’m confident in this under trend lasting at least one more night. If the Edmonton Oilers can keep the Ottawa Senators off the scoreboard, I’m not too worried. Last night these two finished with exactly 6 goals but the 6th was an empty-net goal with just 1 second left on the clock. Let’s hope both teams come out slow and it’s a snooze fest all night. Boston Bruins @ Washington Capitals: Capitals ML (-120)

I can’t remember the last time I bet an NHL moneyline. After seeing this game on the slate, I had to pull the trigger and include it as one of my picks. These two teams match up well, but the Capitals are a slight favorite. I love them in this spot. They rank top three in average goals per game and should dominate the Bruins with offensive power. It’s not all bad for the Bruins though. When looking at defensive stats, the Bruins statistically have a much better defense. They are allowing only 2.4 goals per game, which is one of the lowest rates among all NHL teams. What I really like about this game is that the Capitals have been predictable all year. When they are the underdogs they usually lose, and when they are the favorite they show up and win. The Capitals are 15-3 straight up when they are the favorite this year. That’s an incredible stat. This game is going to be a dogfight, but the Capitals will break through and take home the win.

Bonus Pick: Philadelphia Flyers @ New York Islanders: Islanders Puck Line -1.5 (+155)

What kind of friend would I be if I didn’t throw out an extra pick after absolutely cleaning up last week? Let’s take another shot on the Islanders tonight. I’m a masochist – what can I say? I like this pick a lot. The Islanders are playing at home, and when they do, they’re just monsters on their own ice. When looking at home and away splits, they are 16-2-1 straight up and 14-5 on the puck line. I love the trend. I love the odds. Let’s cash it. Every hot streak has to come to an end, but I don’t think it will be this week. I love these plays, and I’m looking forward to having another clean sweep.
